Police are investigating reports of petrol bombs being thrown during violence in north Belfast. A youth has appeared in court in Belfast charged in connection with last a disturbance in the Ardoyne area of the city.
The police used vehicles to separate two groups in the Ardoyne area shortly after 0030 GMT on Saturday. The defendant, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was accused of riotous assembly.
Community representatives helped restore calm to the area by 0230 GMT. A youth in his teens has been charged with riotous assembly. The charge is linked to trouble at the junction of Alliance Avenue and Ardoyne Road in the early hours of Saturday.
He is to appear before Belfast Magistrates Court later. Another youth is still being questioned by police. A second man who was being questioned in connection with the incident has been released on police bail.
Meanwhile, the police are also investigating reports that paint was thrown through the window of a house on the Ardoyne Road.
