Serbian police have raided a house belonging to the family of the Bosnian Serb wartime military chief, General Ratko Mladic. Dozens of masked officers surrounded the property in a Belgrade suburb while a search was carried out. Local media said General Mladic's son Darko was present at the time and about 70,000 euros ($100,000) was found. Gen Mladic is the most wanted fugitive from the Bosnian war, and has been indicted on charges of genocide. Serbia has been told by the European Union that it will not become a member of the bloc until he is caught. The country's Labour Minister Rasim Ljajic, who was in charge of the search, resigned late last year for failing to catch his quarry. |
