He said all the casualties had been taken to Stirling Royal infirmary.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: "Four ambulances, including a trauma team, were on scene within minutes.
"There were five casualties, two serious and three minor. They were all adults. The two serious casualties were males."
Police have also warned of atrocious driving conditions in East Ayrshire on the M77 Glasgow to Kilmarnock road.
A spokesman said northbound traffic was almost stationary on the M77 at Junction 7, Fenwick.
There are also poor conditions on the A726 towards East Kilbride.
