The son of a 100-year-old woman found stabbed to death at her home in Stepney in east London has been charged with her murder.

Hannah Fitzgibbon was found at the house on Wednesday with a single knife wound to her neck.

Former black cab driver Michael Fitzgibbon, 61, is due to appear at Thames Magistrates' Court on Friday.

He is thought to have been a full-time carer for his mother, who was said to be partially deaf and registered blind.

Neighbours also told police that Mrs Fitzgibbon had not left her home in Hainton Close for for several years.
