A spokesman for Scottish and Southern Energy said: "The good news is we have managed to get the numbers down. We have around 250 homes off supply in the west Perthshire area but that is still 250 too many.
"We are hoping by the end of today we will have everyone back on supply.
"Engineers have been working since first light assisted by teams drafted in from the south. We are now left with the most inaccessible rural areas but we are doing our best to get people back on supply quickly.
"We've also got helicopters conducting line patrols to check whether any other parts of the network are affected."
The spokesman said rural areas around Auchterarder were affected but the town itself was back on supply.
Elsewhere the wintry weather was still causing problems on the roads.
Northern Constabulary urged drivers to drive with "appropriate care" as roads were still affected by snow in the Highlands.
The closures included the A835 Ullapool road at Aultguish, the B862 Fort Augustus to Whitebridge road, the B9007 Carrbridge to Ferness road and the A889 Laggan to Dalwhinnie road.
