Vigil held over Newry bomb attack

Around 30 people gathered at the Town Hall on Friday night, close to the courthouse, the scene of Monday's car bomb attack. SDLP councillor Gary Stokes organised the demonstration and said he felt "10 minutes of silence" was a "fitting response". He said the message was that the people of Newry "will not stand for what happened on Monday night". Newry traders and community agencies have sent a letter to local newspapers saying it is "business as usual" following the bomb attack in the city which was blamed on dissident republicans. |
