Bus attacked with stones in city Police attacked with petrol bombs
(30 minutes later)
Translink has said one of its buses has been attacked during what a company spokesperson described as "general unrest" in west Belfast. Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy after two petrol bombs were thrown at their vehicles in west Belfast.
The police have been unable to confirm reports of trouble on the Springfield Road but Translink said it has withdrawn its buses from the area. A number of youths congregated on the Springfield Road near the site of the Mackie's factory and blocked through traffic.
The trouble was reportedly focused around the Mackie's factory site. Translink said one of its buses had been attacked with stones during the disturbances and it had withdrawn services in the area.
The Translink spokesperson said that she understood youths had attempted to set fire to the road. Police have said they have dispersed the crowd and the area is now quiet.
