Police have released CCTV images of a mother last seen a week ago with a man she met in a Dundee nightclub.

Mary McLaren, 34, has been missing since the early hours of Thursday 25 February after a night out in the city with her sister.

It is thought she met the man she was last seen with in Fat Sams nightclub.

Tayside Police said Ms McLaren's disappearance was "totally out of character" and that they were becoming increasingly concerned for her.

The last confirmed sighting of Ms McLaren was in Marketgait East, close to its junction with King Street, at about 0300 GMT on Thursday.

'Extremely worried'

The man was seen walking with her in North Lindsay Street, Bell Street and Marketgait North.

Police described him as between 30 and 45 years old, about 5ft 7in tall, of slim build, with fair hair and a moustache.

Officers said they had released the CCTV images in a bid to indentify him.

Ch Insp Suzi Mertes said Ms McLaren's family were "extremely worried and upset" about the disappearance of a "loving mother and wife".

"It is vital that we identify the man seen walking with Mary as he may have important information about her whereabouts," she added.

"He was wearing a grey round-neck T-shirt, a dark coloured jacket with white reflective piping on the back, and dark coloured trousers.

Police said Miss McLaren's disappearance was out of character

"If you recognise this man, or if you spoke to him in Fat Sams nightclub on the night of Wednesday 24 February or the early hours of Thursday 25 February we need to speak to you."

Ms McLaren, who walks with a limp, was described as being 5ft 2in, with long brown hair and blue eyes.

On the night she went missing she was wearing a a distinctive black-and-white pattered dress, black leggings, a white duffel coat and flat black shoes.

She was also carrying a black handbag and a pink inflatable toy, police said.

Officers will be talking to pub goers on Wednesday evening to see if anyone remembers seeing Ms McLaren last week.

Hundreds of fliers and posters appealing for information have already been distributed in the city and door-to-door inquiries carried out in King Street.

Ch Insp Mertes added: ''I would urge anyone who knows where she, or anyone who can identify the man in the CCTV images, to think of Mary's family and get in touch with us.''
