The plane was en route from Manchester, said Derek Clyde director of Cambrian Flying School.
Fire crews were called to the scene about 1630 GMT where the Cessna 172 four seater plane had landed.

Fire crews have located an aircraft but no further details were available. Eye witness Paul Gorvett who lives nearby and who also owns a small plane said: "It appears the plane developed an engine problem.
Cardiff Airport said the plane was on its way to Swansea Airport but had not come from Cardiff. "The instructor performed an emergency landing - he did a very good job, it was a marvellous effort. They both did very well. It must have been a horrible experience."
