Police have been given more time to question the husband of a pregnant woman who was seriously injured in a car explosion in a Kent village. Nicholas Fabian, 32, is being held on suspicion of attempted murder after his wife Victoria, also 32, suffered serious leg injuries in Friday's blast. Army bomb disposal experts examined two cars and residents were evacuated from 40 homes after the incident in Vigo. Mrs Fabian's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening, police said. Her unborn baby is believed to have been unharmed in the incident. Emergency shelter A spokesman for Kent Police said the bomb disposal team had been brought in as a "precautionary measure", to check there was no hazard before forensics teams moved in. Mrs Fabian was the sole occupant of the Mazda 323 when the blast happened and people in other cars nearby had been unhurt, he added. Residents have described hearing a loud thud, feeling the ground shudder and seeing smoke rising from the communal car park where Mrs Fabian's vehicle was parked. An emergency shelter was set up at the village hall for people evacuated from their homes. |
