Police have fired a number of shots at a car in north Belfast, it is understood.

No-one was injured and no arrests were made during the incident, which took place at about 1700 GMT on Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses said officers chased a car into Ardoyne at Ardilea Street, off the Oldpark Road.

They said a police officer fired between five and six shots after one man got out of the car and fled on foot.

The Police Ombudsman's office, which investigates such incidents, has been informed.
