'Remember him'
Lt Col David Wakefield, spokesman for the UK's Task Force Helmand in Afghanistan, said: "It happened while he was on a patrol to the north of Musa Qalah district centre, part of the ongoing successful operations in the Musa Qalah area to drive the insurgents away from the local people and away from the district centre.
"He was one of us, one of our own, who fell doing his duty. We will remember him."
The soldier died at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine at Selly Oak.
Operation Moshtarak is a major offensive currently taking place against Taliban forces in Afghanistan involving 15,000 Nato and Afghan troops, including 4,000 British personnel.
