An elderly couple have died in hospital after they were rescued from a fire in Hampshire. An elderly couple have died after they were rescued from a fire at their warden-assisted flat in Hampshire.
The fire broke out at their warden-assisted flat in Rockall Close, Lordshill, Southampton, about 0200 BST. The fire broke out in the lounge of the ground-floor property in Rockall Close, Lordshill, Southampton, about 0200 BST.
Firefighters from Redbridge and St Mary's attended the scene and the pair were taken to Southampton General Hospital where they later died. The pair, aged about 80, were both in cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived and were treated in the ambulance on the way to hospital but later died.
