Almost 30,000 people have joined a Facebook group which is seeking information on a missing Edinburgh man.

Martin Gordon was last seen at his flat in the West Port area of the city at about 2000 GMT on Wednesday 24 March.

The 32-year-old failed to show up for work at the Cabaret Voltaire nightclub on Blair Street that night and has not made contact with family since.

His friends have started a page on the social networking site Facebook in the hope it will provide clues.

His flat mate Richard Duff said Mr Gordon's mobile phone has been switched off and his friends and family were getting very concerned.

Mr Gordon, also known as Tartan, is described as white, 5ft 10in tall with a slim build, short black receding hair and a fair complexion.

He was last seen wearing a blue hooded top and blue jeans.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said: "At this stage, we are making enquiries to establish where Mr Gordon could be and are appealing for anyone with information that can assist us to come forward.

"Similarly are also keen to hear from Mr Gordon to confirm that he is safe and would ask him to make contact with relatives or officers as soon as possible."
