Version 0 of 1.

A teenager has been arrested in connection with the murder of 15-year-old schoolboy Adam Regis.

Adam, from Plaistow, was stabbed to death in an east London street on Saturday evening.

He suffered a wound to the chest and abdomen at the junction of Boundary Road and Kingsland Road in Plaistow.

Police detained the male suspect at an address in East Ham in the early hours and took him to an east London police station for questioning.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said: "We stress that the investigation continues and that all our points of appeal remain. All lines of inquiry do remain open."

Adam, nephew of former athlete John Regis, is thought to have been attacked on his way home from the Showcase Cinema in Beckton.

'Tragic loss'

He and some friends are thought to have travelled back from the cinema by bus, possibly on the 104 or the 376, police said.

They got off at about 2100 GMT on Romford Road near Warwick Road.

Tributes have been left for Adam at the murder scene

Adam is believed to have then separated from his friends and continued his way home alone.

Police believe he was stabbed at some point during this journey, probably close to where he was found, given the extent of his injuries.

Police are hunting two black men who were seen running down Kingsland Road away from the scene of the attack.

The murdered schoolboy was described as a model pupil and a "delightful" and "bubbly" young man by his head teacher.

Joan Deslandes, head teacher at Kingsford Community School in Beckton, east London, said: "Adam was a pleasure to have around the school and we will always remember him with a smile on his face.

"Adam really was a model pupil. This is a tragic loss to everyone."
