It's that time of the day when we take a step back from the day-to-day rough and tumble of politics and look at the big issue facing voters. Yes, the BBC's glamorous fashion insider Claire Williams has jetted in from Milan to bring us Tiewatch. Putting down her vodka and tonic for a second, she notes: "Gordon Brown has proven to be leading the political fashion pack today - as Clegg and Cameron follow his lead with all three out and about in purple ties. Brown's is a delicate mauve colour, Cameron is wearing an electric violet, very modern number, whilst Clegg models a serious and sombre aubergine neck-piece. Is purple THE colour of the 2010 election?" Just one question, Claire. Why was the aubergine looking so sombre? For the Conservatives, shadow Welsh secretary Cheryl Gillan has some strong criticisms of Plaid Cymru's manifesto, accusing the party of putting out "vague, expensive wish-lists". Mark Williams, Lib Dem candidate in Ceredigion, calls Plaid "incompetent".
