Asked by ITV1's Tonight programme if viewers would see his infamous "clunking fist", Mr Brown replied: "I don't think so. I don't think that's me at all." Jake Baynes, UKIP candidate for Wells, in Somerset, has refused to stand down despite being asked to by his party. He'll be running against Tory Euro-sceptic David Heathcoat-Amory - just the kind of candidate UKIP's leadership has said they won't compete with. But Mr Baynes says he "vehemently disagrees" with the plan and isn't going anywhere.
