Version 0 of 1.

Scotland's Jewish community has raised fears about a rise in anti-semitism across the country.

Representatives of Scotland's 11,000 Jews said they are suffering higher than usual levels of abuse.

New figures showed that the number of anti-semitic incidents has risen from 10 last year to 13 this year.

The Community Security Trust said incidents includes verbal abuse and spitting. Two synagogues have also been vandalised in recent weeks.

The Jewish group recorded 92 incidents across the UK in July - the third highest total in more than 20 years.

Middle East

While they admit the situation in Scotland is not as bad, with 13 reports, it still represents a 30% increase on last year.

It is thought tensions have been heightened by the situation in the Middle East.

Strathclyde Police said they monitor the situation on a daily basis and are not aware of any increase, but they are urging anyone who has been threatened or attacked to contact them.
