Asked whether Conservative policies are worse than Lib Dems', Schools Secretary Ed Balls says categorically, "Of course". On the Lib Dems, he says, "I think they are wrong to want to spend more than me on education", but compared to "dangerous" Tory plans to cut education spending, that is definitely preferable. What if the Lib Dems said they would only work with Labour in a hung Parliament if Gordon Brown stood down? "They would never say that", Mr Balls insists.
