The last fatal shooting in Nottingham was in March 2005 when Paul Thomas, 34, was killed in Hyson Green. It is believed the victim was shot in the chest and his killer escaped on the teenager's bicycle.
Liam Williamson, 31, was found guilty of his murder by a jury at Leicester Crown Court and sentenced to a minimum of 26 years.
