Version 0 of 1.

Police have launched a murder inquiry following the death of a woman who was stabbed in Glasgow earlier this month.

Susan Shivers, 27, from Milton, was seriously assaulted in Robertson Lane, at 2335 GMT on 3 March.

After a few days in hospital she was allowed home but became ill on Friday. She was taken back to hospital but was found to be dead on arrival.

Detectives believe Ms Shivers was working as a prostitute and have appealed for witnesses to the attack.

They are particularly keen to trace a man who was seen making his way down Robertson Street towards the Broomielaw at the time of the attack.

He is described as being in his late 20s, about 6ft tall, of thin build, with short hair, wearing silver-rimmed round-framed glasses, a grey hooded tracksuit top with a zip and blue jeans.

Following a post-mortem examination, police are now treating Ms Shivers' death as murder and have set up an incident room at Anderston police office.

Det Ch Insp Michael Feighan said: "Around 11.35pm on Saturday 3 March the area around Robertson Street and Argyle Street would have been very busy with people making their way home and there would have been a number of taxis and buses in the area.

"I am appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity at the time and who has any information whatsoever which might help us with our enquiries to come forward."

Safety improvements

Ch Supt David Christie said policing of the area had been increased since the incident.

"There are more police in the area than ever before," he said.

"We have a dedicated team of officers who work closely with our partners and with working girls to improve their safety and help them find routes out of prostitution."

He added that a number of steps had been taken to improve safety in the city centre.
