Conservatives win Aberconwy, Vale Tory celebrate target seat gains

Conservatives have won the new seat of Aberconwy and taken the Vale of Glamorgan from Labour. There are celebrations in the Conservatives camp with gains in target seats Aberconwy and the Vale of Glamorgan from Labour.
Guto Bebb had a 3,398 majority in Aberconwy over Labour, who notionally held the seat which was created after boundary changes. They have also gained Montgomeryshire from the Lib Dems, unseating Lembit Opik, arguably one of Westminster's most colourful characters.
Conservatives are also confident of capturing the south Wales seat of Gower which has been Labour for a century. Guto Bebb had a 3,398 majority in Aberconwy over Labour - a new seat created after boundary changes.
A swing of 8.4% to the Tories is needed for them to take the seat, which is expected to declare about 0300 BST. In the Vale of Glam, Tory Alun Cairns, also an AM, becomes the new MP.
Conservatives are also confident of capturing the south Wales seat of Gower which has been Labour for a century as well being confident they will gain Cardiff North from Julie Morgan.
