Car traps boy against shop front

A 15-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a car crashed and trapped him against a shop front in Smethwick.

The crash happened at 1114 BST in Cape Hill, West Midlands Police said.

A female has been taken to hospital with serious injuries although they are not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver, a 28-year-old man from Evesham, Worcestershire, has been arrested. Anyone with information about the crash should call police.

Several roads in the Cape Hill were closed while officers dealt with the incident.

Salisbury Road, Rosebery Road, Durban Road, Raglan Road and Montague Road were closed on Saturday and were likely to remain closed throughout the afternoon, West Midlands Police said.
