Nicola De Sousa was found dead in a house in Northampton

A man has appeared in court and denied murdering his girlfriend in Northampton.

The body of 31-year-old hairdresser Nicola De Sousa was found at a house in Oakley Street on 12 February.

Steve Jewell, 43, of Oakley Street, appeared at Northampton Crown Court on Monday and pleaded not guilty to murdering her.

The case was adjourned for trial, to take place in January 2011. Mr Jewell was remanded in custody.
