Gordon Meale was sentenced to life with a minimum term of 11 years

A man has been jailed for murdering his neighbour whose body was found near allotments in County Durham.

James Scaife, 56, from Sunnydale in Shildon, died from head wounds after an altercation with Gordon Meale on a path near the town's Green Lane in December.

Meale, also of Sunnydale, was found guilty after a trial at Leeds Crown Court.

The 50-year-old was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 11 years.
