About 80 birds of various species were found dead

Two men have been charged over the deaths of 80 birds and a pet dog after a chemical incident in east London.

The birds and a five-year-old German shepherd cross died at a wildlife spot in Wanstead Flats in March.

Terrence Webb, 27, of Ilford, and Mark Page, 35, of Romford, will appear at Redbridge Magistrates' Court next week.

They have been charged with using a pesticide without approval, poisoning animals, killing wild birds, theft and storing a pesticide without approval.

Both men worked as pest controllers for a local authority.
