The US White House condemned the attack on the cafeteria. National Security spokesman Gordon Johndroe said the attack did not cast doubt on the security plan but rather showed the resolve of the insurgents.
"They are worried that the United States and Iraqi security forces are fighting them, so they are fighting back because they do not want the people of Iraq to live in freedom," he said.
