Police have been given an extra 36 hours to question a woman on suspicion of the murder of a man in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd.

Labourer William McCauley, 38, was found stabbed to death in the Fron Fawr area shortly after 2330 BST on Tuesday. North Wales Police arrested a 40-year-old woman, who has been named locally as Wendy Ellis, a mother-of-two.

On Thursday, magistrates granted officers extra time to question her.

Following the discovery of Mr McCauley's body, a forensic search was carried out at the scene.

A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out.
