One told the BBC: "I'd really like it if someone told us if we were moving or not. If we were told we're not moving, we could actually get some sleep. "It was pretty horrific... an absolute farce. There was no evidence of anyone official doing anything," he said.
"Police should have been helping gritters and ploughs clear both lanes on the opposite carriage to get smaller vehicles moving."
