Our localnewspaper published an article about the new bridge that is to be built saying it would play Blaydon Races.     • One of the best was the San Serriffe Island hoax by the Guardian in 1977. Full of in-jokes about printing typefaces; san serif being a classification of typefaces was at the heart of the joke.     • The best prank I ever pulled was swtiching the keys around on the keyboard. My mum (who isn't exactly computer literate) didn't notice the keys weren't in QWERTY layout.. so when she came to type out the pre-school newsletter it was all in gobbledegook. Of course, the keyboard worked perfectly when I started touch-typing.,. so I suggested that my mum wasn't pressing down on the keys hard enough!The best prank I ever pulled was swtiching the keys around on the keyboard.     • I once had the fortunate position of starting a new job in a kitchen on 1st April . A friend already worked there and prepped a young chef that I was nice but I was a satanist.On the day I worked normally but asked the head chef to save me the blood from some meat that came in. I quietly switched it for beetroot juice and drank it much to the horror of the young chef who ran out to tell the bossI once had the fortunate position of starting a new job in a kitchen on 1st April .     • In the 1970s, he FT produced a 'pull-out' section to the daily newspaper (on April 1st, naturally) describing the investment benefits/tax breaks/industry of a ficticious group of Caribbean islands, complete with interviews, profiles, photos, maps, etc. Apperently, they were so inundated with enquiries, they had to publish retractions for days afterwards. For the normally-staid FT, truly inspired!In the 1970s, he FT produced a 'pull-out' section to the daily newspaper (on April 1st, naturally) describing the investment benefits/tax breaks/industry of a ficticious group of Caribbean islands, complete with interviews, profiles, photos, maps, etc. Apperently, they were so inundated with enquiries, they had to publish retractions for days afterwards.
