Man in court over woman's murder Murder charge on road crash body
(about 6 hours later)
A 28-year-old man from the Neath area will appear in court later charged with the murder of a woman, 21, found near a car in Neath. A man has been remanded in custody, charged with the murder of his partner, whose body was found after reports of a road crash.
The man, who has not been named by police, will appear at Neath magistrates court. Call centre worker Jenna Watkins, 21, from Neath, was found dead on the Bwlch mountain road between Cimla and Baglan early on Saturday.
Detectives said the woman was found on the Cimla to Baglan Road, which is known as the Bwlch Road, and is thought to have died early on Saturday. Jason Shaddick, 27, also from Neath, appeared before the town's magistrates.
The road was cordoned off and a Home Office pathologist was at the scene. Police said they trying to find more information about the couple and the events leading to Ms Watkins'death.
Mr Shaddick was remanded in custody, to appear at Swansea Crown Court on 30 April.
Officers said a post mortem examination showed Ms Watkins had received injuries to her body.
Det Ch Insp Stuart McKenzie, who is leading the investigation, said:"We are continuing to investigate the death of Jenna and although a man has been charged we need to building up a picture of what happened on the Bwlch mountain road during the early hours of Saturday."

Police said that the couple had spent time on Friday evening with friends at an address in Southdown Road on the Sandfields estate, Port Talbot.
During the evening police said there were reports of a disturbance in Southdown Road which officers want more information about.
Detectives also want to hear from anyone who witnessed the road traffic collision on Bwlch Road or who may have seen a man walking from there along an area known as Danygraig Steps towards the Fairlyland area.
Meanwhile, the family of Ms Watkins, who worked in Swansea, paid tribute to her as a "precious, beautiful and fun-loving daughter".
The family appealed for anybody with information to help both the police and them "at this devastating time".
