A horse-drawn hearse ploughed into parked cars in Liverpool after the animals got spooked and bolted.

The two horses, waiting outside St Oswald's Church in Old Swan while the funeral took place, set off down the street while the service continued.

One of their handlers suffered minor injuries bringing the horses under control further down Derby Lane.

Merseyside Police said a motorised hearse was brought in to take the coffin on its final journey.

Two vehicles were damaged.
