Four people have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 27-year-old woman was found abandoned in woodland in West Yorkshire.

The woman was found in a distressed state near Woodsome Hall Golf Club, Huddersfield, on Saturday night.

Two men aged 25 and 49 years old, a 46-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy are being held on suspicion of attempted murder.

Police are trying to establish how the woman ended up in the woodland.

West Yorkshire police believe she may have been taken from an address in Penistone Road, Huddersfield after 2300 BST on Saturday.

The woman received minor injuries and has received medical treatment.

Cardboard box

Two cars and a large cardboard box have been recovered as part of the investigation.

Police are keen to trace anyone who saw the cardboard box on Penistone Road or near the woodland.

Scenes of crime officers are conducting forensic tests in the woods and the address on Penistone Road.

Det Ch Insp Lisa Griffin, from the force, said: "Penistone Road is quite a busy road even late at night, and we believe some passing motorists may have seen some activity outside of the house.

"Inquiries have also led us to believe that a large cardboard box recovered from the woodland may have been visible at the time when the woman was being transported at both locations.

"It is crucial we hear from anyone who may have seen this box last night."

Anyone with information has been asked to contact West Yorkshire Police.
