Three people have been killed in a collision between two cars in the West Midlands. Three women have been killed in a two-car collision in the West Midlands.
The crash happened in Greets Green Road in West Bromwich at about 0045 BST on Sunday. The crash happened in Greets Green Road, in West Bromwich, close to an industrial estate and a canal bridge, at about 0045 BST on Sunday.
West Midlands Fire Service said three people had been killed and another seven were injured. West Midlands Police said three women, aged 28, 35 and 40, died and five people were injured.
The seven people injured in the collision were being treated at the nearby Sandwell Hospital, the emergency services said. A spokesman for the force said a 21-year-old man was in a "critical" condition and an 11-year-old girl was recovering in hospital.
He said the two cars involved were a Citroen Saxo and a Ford Fiesta, both containing four people.
Critically ill
The 28 and 35-year-old women who died were in the Fiesta and the 40-year-old woman was in the Saxo.
The 21-year-old man, who is critically ill, was in the Saxo.
The other casualties are two women, aged 28 and 36, and a 19-year-old man.
A spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service said they used specialised cutting equipment to free some of the casualties who were then taken to hospital.
A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "Despite the best efforts of ambulance crews, nothing could be done for two persons, who were declared dead at the scene."
A fire service spokesman said the third woman died later from injuries sustained in the crash.
The road remains closed while police are in attendance at the scene.
Police have asked for witnesses to come forward.
