A 24-year-old man who died 10 days after he was found unconscious in the middle of a Kent town has been named.

Luke Marchington, of Sheerness, was discovered near the clock tower, in High Street, in the early hours of 12 June.

He was taken to Kings College Hospital in London for treatment, but died on 22 June.

A 21-year-old woman and a man, aged 23, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and bailed.

'Earlier fighting'

Kent Police said a 22-year-old man, also arrested in connection with his death, was released without charge.

The force believes the victim was injured during an incident that began in the Tudor public house and spilled out on to High Street.

The results of a post-mortem examination have not yet been released.

Det Ch Insp Mick Atkinson said: "We are particularly appealing for those who attended the Tudor Inn public house on Saturday 11 June from 7pm until closing time, to come forward so we can eliminate them from our inquiries.

"Additionally, anyone who witnessed fighting around the clock tower may have information which could prove vital to our enquiries and I would urge them to contact us."
