Man crushed between cars in crash in Lancashire

A 30-year-old man was seriously injured when his legs were crushed between two cars in a crash in Lancashire.

The man was standing behind a Mercedes Sprinter van in Sandy Lane, Hambleton when he was struck by a Rover 416 at 12:00 BST on Wednesday.

A Lancashire police spokesman said the man, from Darwen, suffered serious injuries to his legs.

Police closed the road for two hours while accident investigators examined the scene.

Sgt Gareth Hill, from Lancashire police, said: "This man has sustained some very serious injuries and I would appeal to anybody who saw what happened to contact police."
