Two County Armagh men have appeared in court charged in connection with the murder of 21-year-old Marc Williamson

Mr Williamson, from Richhill in County Armagh, was stabbed in the early hours of Sunday morning in Portadown.

Denver Cardwell, 26, from Hartfield Avenue appeared at Lisburn Magistrate's Court charged with his murder.

Also in court was David Stuart McCullough, 24, from Westland Road who was accused of intimidating a witness and assisting an offender.

Both the accused lived close to the spot where Marc Williamson was killed.

BBC district reporter Gordon Adair, who was in court, said that during the hearing Mr Cardwell stood with his head bowed and only nodded to confirm he understood the charges against him.

Mr Williamson's parents watched from the public gallery.

Both men were remanded in custody to appear again next month.
