The IPCC investigation began when Mr Woodhams' family made formal complaints against the Metropolitan Police, after the young father from Canning Town was murdered in August 2006.
As part of the probe, an additional three officers as well as two Police Sergeants and a Detective Sergeant will receive written warnings, and a Detective Constable will be given words of advice.
A further three officers have been cleared of wrongdoing but will be given guidance.
IPCC Commissioner Deborah Glass said: "The report contains a number of lessons that the Metropolitan Police Service should learn from mistakes that were made when they were investigating the stabbing."
