A businessman was returning to the family home in Sion Mills at about 2300 BST on Sunday when he was confronted by three men.

Two of the gang took him into the kitchen and and hit him with a gun, while the third stayed in the living room with his wife and two daughters.

The gang left with the cash, two mobile phones and two walkie-talkie radios.

Inspector Gary Lynn said it was a "traumatic experience" for the family.

"This man was threatened by these individuals and warned that if he did not co-operate his wife and kids would be taken away in a van," he said.

"He also sustained a blow to the head which, we believe, was from a gun of some description.

"This was a terrible ordeal for this family also present in the house was his wife and two young children."
