At least 17 people have been killed as Palestinian factions in Gaza intensify their clashes - and Israel's army launches air strikes in the south. At least 17 people have been killed in increasing violence in Gaza, as Israel vowed a severe response to rocket attacks on its soil.
Gunmen killed at least 13 people in Gaza City despite a truce agreed by the feuding Hamas and Fatah factions. Both the Hamas and Fatah factions have now called a renewed truce but many people are trapped by clashes, including 30 reporters in a BBC office.
Hamas has now called for a unilateral ceasefire amid ongoing clashes that have trapped many residents, including journalists, indoors. Violence erupted four days ago between Fatah, loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas, and PM Ismail Haniya's Hamas.

The area around the Palestinian president's compound has been under siege from gunmen.
Staff at the BBC's Gaza offices were forced to seek refuge in one room as Fatah gunmen traded gunfire with Hamas militants on the ground.
A BBC journalist, Ibrahim Adwan, who is inside the building, said: "We're all stuck in the ninth floor, and there is heavy shooting coming from outside towards the building where we're staying, between Fatah and Hamas.

"Fatah militants are occupying the roof of our building, and the Hamas people are shooting towards the building."
Hamas said it had ordered a unilateral ceasefire from 1700GMT and President Abbas said Fatah would also cease fire.
A Palestinian government of national unity had been agreed between the factions in February in an attempt to end the factional violence.
But some 40 people have died since fierce fighting broke out in Gaza on Sunday.
