Version 0 of 1.

Two men have been arrested after a number of shots were allegedly fired in Carrickfergus.

Police said they responded to reports of gunfire at the Castlemara Estate on Thursday afternoon.

The suspects were arrested on firearms related offences after armed officers raided two houses.

DUP MLA David Hilditch said Castlemara residents were unhappy with the police response.

"The greater Castlemara community here have moved on and the people of this area did not want the disruption that happened here today," he added.

Mr Hilditch said he believed it was a "one off incident" and paramilitaries were not involved.

Police carried out a number of searches in the estate and seized a fire arm and ammunition.
