Police found a man, aged in his 30s, with knife injuries after they were called to a house in Midland Road, Bramhall, at 19:50 BST on Saturday.Police found a man, aged in his 30s, with knife injuries after they were called to a house in Midland Road, Bramhall, at 19:50 BST on Saturday.
He was given first aid by paramedics and responding officers, but died a short time afterwards. A second man fled the scene. The man arrested on suspicion of murder is aged 39 and believed to be the householder.
A 39-year-old man believed to be the householder has been arrested. A 33-year-old man has also been arrested in connection with the burglary.
'Serious incident' The couple who live at the house were named locally as Vincent and Karen Cooke.

The second offender is believed to have driven off in a white Citroen van, registration MM02 XEY, that was parked nearby on Chinley Close.
Detectives are urgently trying to trace the vehicle.
