Hundreds of mourners have gathered for the funeral of a schoolboy who was stabbed to death.

Kodjo Yenga, 16, died from a single stab wound to the heart when he was attacked in Hammersmith Grove, west London, in March.

Friends and family walked from his home in Portland Road, Notting Hill to the nearby church of St Francis of Assisi.

Eight youths, aged between 13 and 16, will appear at the Old Bailey charged with his murder next month.

Mourners - many wearing white in tribute - walked behind a white horse-drawn hearse carrying the coffin of the teenager.

Floral tributes

Kodjo's death was one of a string of teen murders in London

In front of the carriage was a motorised hearse carrying floral tributes to the sixth form student.

The procession was led by two of Kodjo's friends, who held a large picture portrait of him with his surname written at the bottom.

The teenager's coffin was transferred from the horse-drawn hearse to the motorised hearse for the last part of the journey, where floral tributes were placed on top and around the casket.

The 16-year-old's death was one of a string of shootings and stabbings which have claimed the lives of teenagers since the end of January.
