A TJ Hughes store that was saved from closure when the firm went into administration is reopening after a refurbishment.

The store in Sheffield now has a revamped interior and so far 100 staff have been recruited, including some who had previously been made redundant.

The discount department store's outlets were sold to Lewis's Home Retail.

Store manager Marie Catchpole said the firm was still trying to fill dozens of vacancies in Sheffield.

The Liverpool-based group called in administrators Ernst and Young in June after a difficult period of trading.

The discount department store's outlets were sold to Lewis's Home Retail, a company associated with Speke-based homewares group Benross.

Ernst and Young said it continued to seek a sale of the remaining business and assets, which included remaining stores.

Marie Catchpole, the manager of the Sheffield store, said there had been significant loyalty to the TJ Hughes store in the city in the past.

She said staff morale was high despite the uncertainty over their future during recent months.

Ms Catchpole added: "All the staff there previously have been retained and we've also brought back some of the staff that were made redundant and their reaction has been fantastic."
