Prayers said for murdered student Two arrests over student murder

Prayers have been said at a Lancashire school where a murdered teenager was due to sit his exams. A man and a woman have been arrested by detectives investigating the murder of a teenager who was stabbed to death.

Officers spoke to him on Monday night and are following a number of leads as part of the murder investigation.
Sam's family home has been cordoned off while police carry out investigations and officers returned to the scene on Tuesday.
Det Supt Graham Gardner, leading the inquiry, said: "This is a complex inquiry and the full story about what happened in the early hours of Monday on the Grange Park estate is yet to emerge.
"A number of people have been arrested but I expect they will only be part of the jigsaw.
"I am convinced the answer to this terrible murder lies on the estate itself.
"Sam had only just turned 16 and I would urge anyone who can help with this inquiry to contact Blackpool police."

Det Ch Insp Neil Esseen, of Lancashire police, said: "We've launched a murder investigation and are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen anything to come forward.
"We believe someone may have seen something."
