Teenager charged over fire deaths

A teenage boy has been charged with the murder of two sisters who died in a house fire on Tyneside.

Tatum Spence, 14, and her 12-year-old sister Demi-Jade died from smoke inhalation in the blaze at Lisle Road, South Shields, on 4 April.

Their father and mother, John and Anita, both 37, were hurt in the blaze.

The 17-year-old youth, who had been on police bail, was charged with murder on Tuesday. He is to appear before South Tyneside magistrates on Wednesday.
