Ms Parkhouse spent the evening at the Top Club in Nantymoel, before taking a taxi back to her father's home on Cardiff Street. Mr Kemp said: "What's crucial to us is to get the support of the local community. I'm convinced Ms Parkhouse knew her killer." Police said it was not unusual for her to visit her father and spend time away from her marital home.
On Tuesday, her husband Andre paid tribute to a "wonderful wife, daughter and mother" who was "well-known and loved in the community". Mr Kemp said: "There was evidence of a fire having been started at the scene of the murder. It does appear the fire is connected.
"The cause of death is not 100% clear, but every indication is that she was probably suffocated.
The detective said there was no evidence of a break-in at the house, but the possibility had not been ruled out.
He added: "What's crucial to us is to get the support of the local community. I'm convinced Mrs Parkhouse knew her killer."

"No-one had a bad word to say about Bev, and she loved nothing more than helping others," he said.
"The loss of Bev has left a huge hole in our lives, and on behalf of myself, Sarah, Ken and all of Bev's family, I would like to thank everyone for the support we have received.
"Those close to Bev, no doubt, will join me in asking the community for help in finding out what happened on Sunday night or Monday morning.
"If you have any information, then please come forward, to allow Bev the justice she deserves."
