Man reverses over and kills wife in Nottingham drive
(about 21 hours later) | |
An 82-year-old Nottingham woman has died after being knocked over in a driveway by a car driven by her husband, police said.
The woman, from Wollaton, died when her husband, also 82, was reversing a new car out of his Russell Crescent drive.
The victim, who has not been identified, died at Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham on Monday.
The death was "a dreadful accident" and was not being treated as suspicious, a Nottinghamshire Police spokesman said.
Det Sgt Ged Hazelwood said: "We have no reason to believe that this was anything more than a dreadful accident involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian.
"It appears that the vehicle lightly and inadvertently struck the woman, causing her to fall and hit her head on the floor in a manner that tragically led to her death.
"No one else is being sought in connection with the incident and the couple's distraught family are now trying to come to terms with what has happened." |
