(40 minutes later) | |
A husband convicted of murdering his wife has agreed to show officers where on his farm he buried her body.
The body of Kate Prout, 55, of Redhill Farm in Redmarley, Gloucestershire, was never found despite extensive searches.
Her husband Adrian was jailed for life in February 2010 for the murder following a trial. Police said on Friday he had now admitted the killing.
Mrs Prout, 55, was never found. Her husband arrived at the farm on Friday to point out the location of the body.
Det Supt Simon Atkinson, of Gloucestershire Police, said a "detailed" search of the farm would now take place.
"This will be a painstaking process so is likely to take some time," he said.
"The scene will be guarded throughout the weekend.
"We are keeping Mrs Prout's family updated and fully informed of developments.
'Long ordeal' | |
"The investigation into Kate Prout's death was challenging and complex, and ultimately led to Adrian Prout's conviction. This latest piece of information does not change that."
He added that officers' "main priority" was now to find Mrs Prout's body to allow her family "to have some closure after the long ordeal they have been through".
On Thursday, police said they had received "significant" new information about the case and officers began a search of woodland at the farm.
Officers were guarding the main gate while others were seen driving on parts the farm in 4x4 vehicles. | Officers were guarding the main gate while others were seen driving on parts the farm in 4x4 vehicles. |
