Big Brother's first male housemate of the latest series has entered the Channel 4 reality TV show.

Model and music producer Zak Lichman - known as Ziggy - used to be a member of boy band Northern Line.

The 26-year-old Londoner joins the 11 women in the house since Wednesday who include a member of the Women's Institute and a former lap-dancer.

According to bookmakers Ladbrokes, Welsh nanny Laura is the favourite to win the show and the £100,000 prize.

Manchester United star Kieran Richardson's cousin Charley is the most unpopular housemate.

Northern Line had three top 20 hits with Run For Your Life, Love on the Northern Line and All Around the World (2000).

An average of 6.2 million viewers tuned in to watch the launch of the eighth series of Big Brother.

The show opened with an official apology, ordered by Ofcom, over Channel Four's handling of the race row on January's Celebrity Big Brother.

It involved celebrity contestants Jade Goody, Danielle Lloyd and Jo O'Meara and their treatment of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty.

House rules for this series have been updated to warn against bullying and to make clear that offensive remarks on the grounds of race, religion or sexuality are unacceptable.
